Wigglegrams and Twitpic

June 28, 2009 No comments yet

We have a development build of 3D Camera 1.2 that we’re testing on our new iPhone 3GS, and today, we added initial support for sending wigglegrams to Twitpic (check out our first test image). The challenge with wigglegrams is that they either require special code on a web page to flip between the left and right images, or they need to be saved in a format that allows animation.

Of the common image formats, only GIF (the Graphics Interchange Format) supports animation across all web browsers. Unfortunately, the iPhone doesn’t have built-in functionality to create GIF images, nor will it allow a GIF image to be saved to the Camera Roll. The good news is that Twitpic does support animated GIFs, and 3D Camera 1.2 is able to create them.

This is only one of the many requested features that will be available as a free update to current 3D Camera owners.

TUAW Reviews 3D Camera

We were flattered to learn that The Unofficial Apple Weblog (a.k.a. TUAW) posted a review of 3D Camera this morning. As you can imagine, the exposure has driven a lot of traffic to our site, and we’ve been responding to (new) fan mail, feedback, and questions. We honestly love to hear from users of our apps, and we encourage you to leave suggestions and comments to out posts. If you’d prefer not to post publicly, feel free to contact us directly.

3D Camera 1.1 Now Available

June 23, 2009 1 comment

We just received notification from Apple that 3D Camera Version 1.1 is now available in the App Store. The update is free to all current 3D Camera 1.0 owners. This minor update reduces the memory that is required to manipulate the 3D images and should result in a more stable and responsive experience.

We’re already working on version 1.2, and based on your e-mail and feedback, we’re making these additions and improvements:

  • Ability to use your finger to re-align images after they’ve been taken
  • Ability to control or eliminate the “black bar” between the left and right stereogram images
  • Ability to save/send wigglegram animations
  • Ability to take advantage of the increased camera resolution on the iPhone 3GS models

If there are other additions or improvements that you’d like us to make, please leave feedback or contact us via e-mail.

3D Camera 1.1 Submitted to App Store

June 11, 2009 No comments yet

Last night, we submitted an update to 3D Camera that is currently going through Apple’s review process. If all goes well, the update should be available to everyone within the next few days. There is no charge for this update.

The 1.1 update reduces the amount of memory that 3D Camera uses during its operation. This should improve general performance and help the app to run more smoothly on phones that haven’t been reset in a long time. By the way, if you’re running into any issues while using 3D Camera, a reset of your phone (as detailed in our FAQ) helps in nearly every case.

As always, we’d love to hear your feedback.
